Born Georgii Konstantinovich Guins, 1887. Emigrated to the United States from Russia in 1941. Came to UC Berkeley in 1945, where he held positions in both the Slavic and Political Science departments until he retired in 1954. Specialist in the history of Russia, the Soviet Union, and China.
Some manuscripts (rough drafts) are in Russian (Box 2). Most of the collection, however, is in English.
